Age Limit :-

  • There is NO age limit to appear for GATE 2021 examination.

Eligibility for GATE 2021 :-

A candidate who is currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program OR has already completed any government approved degree program in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts is eligible for appearing in the GATE 2021 exam.

Highlights of GATE 2021 :

  • Fully Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • Two NEW subject papers are introduced: (1) ES (Environmental Science and Engineering) and (2) XH (Humanities and Social Sciences) in Economics / English / Linguistics / Philosophy / Psychology / Sociology.
  • Total number of subject papers: 27
  • Syllabi of all subject papers have been revised for GATE 2021.
  • All Test Papers of GATE 2021 will be entirely objective type. Pattern of questions may include
  1. Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ),
  2. Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and/or
  3. Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.
  • ONE or TWO subject papers allowed. TWO Paper combinations have to be chosen from the given list of combinations of papers. Final allotment of TWO papers will still be subject to availability of infrastructure and dates.
  • GATE-2021 score card will remain valid for THREE years from the date of announcement of results.

GATE 2020 Important FAQs :

Q1 : For how many GATE papers can I apply?

Ans : A candidate can apply for ONE or TWO subject papers of the 27 papers listed in the GATE INFORMATION BROCHURE or GATE website.

Q2 : After submission of application, am I permitted to change my GATE Examination Paper?

Ans : YES, ONLY after the last date for application submission, a request for the change of GATE Examination Paper will be entertained against additional payment till 13th November, 2020.

Q3 : Can I use a physical calculator during the examination?

Ans : NO, During the online GATE 2021 examination, all candidates will be provided with a virtual scientific calculator which has to be used to answer the questions.

Q4 : When will I receive my Admit Card?

Ans : Admit Card can ONLY be downloaded from the GOAPS website from 8th January 2021.

Q5 : I am currently studying in 3rd year B.A./B.Com./B.Sc. Am I eligible to appear for GATE-2021?

Ans : YES, any undergraduate student currently in 3rd year or higher years of any government approved program in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Arts / Commerce / Science is eligible to appear for GATE 2021.

Q6 : Are there any restrictions on the number of times one can appear for GATE?

Ans : NO, One can appear for the GATE examination any number of times.

Q7 : DO I need to fill two forms to appear in two papers?

Ans : NO, The two papers option may be selected based on the given set of combinations in a SINGLE form only.

Q8 : What will happen if I am not able to produce EWS certificate at the time of admission/counselling etc.?

Ans : If you are not having a valid EWS certificate at the time of admission/counselling/recruitment, you will be considered as General category candidate.

Q9 : Do I have to upload my EWS certificate during the application process?

Ans : NO. Since, the “GATE CUT-OFF SCORE” for General and General-EWS categories are same, you need not upload any EWS certificate.
