East Coast Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Qualification
- Matriculation (Class X): Minimum 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board, held as on 21.08.2026 (the notification date).
- ITI Certificate: An ITI certificate in the relevant trade, affiliated to NCVT/SCVT, as per the Apprentices Act, 1961.
- Special Requirements: For Laboratory Technician (Pathology): 12th pass (10+2 system) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with a minimum of 50% marks in both 10th and 12th. For Secretarial Assistant (Stenography): National Trade Certificate (NTC) approved by NCVT/SCVT. For Computer Operator & Programming Assistant: board-based basic training in the IT sector under the Centre of Excellence scheme with an NTC approved by NCVT/SCVT.

East Coast Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Stipend
Selected candidates will be paid a monthly stipend at the prescribed rate during the training period, as per extant rules and directives issued by the Railway Board from time to time. The notification does not specify an exact stipend amount. No hostel accommodation is provided during training – apprentices must make their own arrangements.
East Coast Railway Apprentice Vacancy 2026 Selection Process
- Stage 1 – Merit Listing: Selection is based solely on a merit list prepared from the percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation (minimum 50% aggregate) – there is no written test or interview.
- Stage 2 – Document Verification: A trade-wise and community-wise merit list is prepared; candidates are called for Document Verification (DV) at ECoR Headquarters, Bhubaneswar, based on merit in their preferred trade.
- Stage 3 – Medical Fitness: Final selection is subject to verification of original documents and submission of a Medical Fitness Certificate.

- Requests for a change of Trade, Division, or Workshop after selection will not be entertained
- Candidates found ineligible or erroneously engaged may have their apprenticeship terminated without prior notice at any stage
- Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification
- RRC/BBS has not appointed any agents. Candidates are advised to beware of touts and job racketeers
- Any legal matter arising from this notification will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Cuttack
- Apprentices trained under this scheme will have no claim to employment in the Railways after completion of their apprenticeship training
