IIM CAT Exam 2026 Qualification
- The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in the case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PwD) categories] or possess an equivalent qualification.
- Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply.
- Candidates applying for CAT 2026 should fulfill any one of the following conditions:
- Completed Bachelor’s degree with the required percentage of marks*.
- Completed professional degree (CA/ CS/ ICWA/ Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India (FIAI)) with required percentage*
- Should be in the final year of Bachelor’s degree with required percentage*. SC/ST/PwD candidates should have a minimum 45%. For General, EWS and NC-OBC candidates, the minimum is 50%.
IIM CAT 2026 Selection Process
- Stage 1 – Computer-Based Common Admission Test (CAT) 2026.
- Stage 2 – Shortlisting by individual IIMs based on their respective admission policies.
- Stage 3 – Individual IIMs may consider CAT performance, previous academic performance, relevant work experience, and other inputs at various stages of the selection process.
Duration of the Test
The duration of the test will be 120 minutes. The test will have the following three sections:
- Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
- Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
- Section III: Quantitative Ability
Candidates will be allotted exactly 40 minutes for answering questions in each section, and they will not be allowed to switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section.A mock exam to understand the format of the test will be available on the CAT website

- Visit the official CAT 2026 website.
- Complete online registration from 03 August 2026, 10:00 AM to 15 September 2026, 05:00 PM.
- Select any five test cities in order of preference during registration.
- Pay the applicable CAT registration fee online.
- SC, ST, and PwBD candidates must upload the applicable category certificate during registration.
- Download and retain the submitted application details for future reference. Not Mentioned in Official Notification.
