NTA JEE Main 2026 Eligible candidates can apply online for the JEE Main 2026 from the website jeemain.nta.nic.in starting from Oct 31, 2025. NTA JEE Main 2026 The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE (Main) comprises two papers.
Paper 1 (BE / B.Tech) is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B. Tech) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions / Universities funded / recognized by participating State Governments. NTA JEE Main 2026 It is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Paper 2 is conducted for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning courses in the Country.

Age Limit
- For appearing in the JEE (Main) 2026, there is no age limit for the candidates.
JEE Main 2026 Eligibility
- Only those candidates who have passed the Class 12th / equivalent examination in 2024, 2025, or those who are appearing in Class 12th / equivalent examination in 2026, are eligible to appear in JEE (Main) 2026.
- Candidates who passed the Class XII / equivalent Examination in 2023 or before are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2026. Passing year for class XII (or Equivalent Examination) means the year, in which the result of the candidate has been declared as ‘pass’ for the first time in that particular Examination (Class XII/ Equivalent Examination).
List of Qualifying Examinations (QE)
- The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc.
- Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
- Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy
- Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
- Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
- Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination.
- A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 years duration.
- General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London / Cambridge / Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
- High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

JEE Main 2026 Selection Process
- Paper 1 (B.E. /B. Tech.) in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only.
- Paper 2A (B. Arch): Mathematics (Part-I) and Aptitude Test (Part-II) in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only and Drawing Test (Part-III) in pen and paper (offline) mode, to be attempted on drawing sheet of A4 size.
- Paper 2B (B. Planning): Mathematics (Part-I), Aptitude Test (Part-II), and Planning-Based Questions (Part-III) in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode only.

JEE Main 2026 Exam Pattern
Paper1: B.E./ B. Tech. in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode:

Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) andSection B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. Therewill be negative marking for incorrect answer in Section A and Section B. For each questionin Section B, a candidate has to enter the correct integer value of the answer using the mouse andthe on- screen virtual numeric keypad in the place designated to enter the answer. For SectionB, the answer should be rounded off to the nearest integer.
Paper 2A (B. Arch): Mathematics (Part-I) and Aptitude Test (Part-II) in CBT mode only and Drawing Test (Part-III) in Pen and Paper Based (offline) mode, to be attempted on drawing sheet of A4 size.
