BPSC 72 Prelims Exam 2026 Eligibility Criteria

72nd Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination:

• Graduation or equivalent examination from a recognized university.

Child Development Project Officer (CDPO):

• A Bachelor’s degree, with one of the following optional subjects: (1) Home Science, (2) Psychology, (3) Sociology, or (4) Labour and Social Welfare.
• One of these subjects must be selected for the main examination.

Financial Administrative Officer (FAO) & Equivalent

• It will be mandatory to have a Graduate degree in any one of the subjects Commerce, Economics, Mathematics or Statistics from a recognized university or its affiliated institute.

Sub-divisional Protection Officer:

• Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in either Psychology or Law from a recognized university is mandatory; furthermore, for the Main Examination, one must select either (1) Psychology or (2) Law as an optional subject.

BPSC 72 Selection Process 2026

Prelims Written Exam:

• Candidates will first have to appear for the Preliminary Written Exam. This exam serves as a screening test and consists of multiple-choice questions. The syllabus for the prelims exam will be provided in the official notification.

Mains Written Test:

• Candidates who qualify in the prelims exam will be eligible to appear for the Mains Written Test. The mains exam is more comprehensive and covers a wider range of subjects. It consists of descriptive-type questions, and the syllabus will also be specified in the official notification.

Interview:

• Candidates who successfully clear the mains written test will be shortlisted for the interview stage. This is a personal interaction round where candidates’ communication skills, personality traits, and subject knowledge are assessed by a panel of experts.

Document Verification:

• After the interview, candidates who are provisionally selected will have to undergo a document verification process. This involves verifying the authenticity of the documents submitted by the candidates, such as educational certificates, age proof, caste certificate (if applicable), etc.

Medical Examination:

• The final stage of the selection process is a medical examination. Candidates who are recommended for appointment will undergo a thorough medical check-up to ensure they are physically and medically fit for the position.
