DSSC Eligibility Criteria 2026

PostEssential Qualification & Experience
Lower Division Clerk12th Class pass from a recognized Board or University. Skill Test: Typing speed of 35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi on computer (10 minutes).
Civilian Motor Driver (Ordinary Grade)12th Class pass or equivalent from a recognized Board or University. Must possess civilian driving license for heavy vehicles. Two years’ experience in driving heavy vehicles from a recognized Organisation or Undertaking.
Multi-Tasking Staff (Office & Training)Matriculation pass or equivalent from a recognized Board/Institute. (MTS trade involves fatigue nature of duties including cleaning, sweeping of toilets/work area, loading, unloading, shifting of goods, gardening, feeding and cleaning of horses, night watchman, etc.)
Stenographer Grade II12th Class pass or equivalent from a recognized Board or University. Skill Test: Dictation 10 minutes @ 80 words per minute; Transcription 50 minutes (English) or 65 minutes (Hindi) on computer.
Supervisor (Networking)Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Master’s Degree in Computer Application/Computer Science/IT from a recognized University/Institute. Two years’ experience in Network and Management of Servers. Desirable: Linux environment, network/server administration, ICT solutions, firewall, virtualization, Python, HTML, PHP, etc.

Boat Builder12th Class pass from a recognized Board and two years’ experience in repair of Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic boats with a public/private shipyard or registered company under Companies Act, 2013. OR successfully completed apprenticeship training at DGT recognized centres with National Apprenticeship Certificate in marine fitter trade. OR Ex-sailors of Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard from Shipwright or Hull Artificer trade.
Technical Attendant – Printing Machine OperatorITI Pass Certificate in Printing Machine Operator from a recognized institute. OR Matriculation pass or equivalent from a recognized Board / Institute with at least one year experience as Printing Machine Operator from a recognized Organization.

DSSC Selection Process 2026

election will be based on Written Test followed by Skill/Physical Test wherever applicable. All applications will first be scrutinized for age limits, minimum qualifications, documents, and certificates before eligible candidates are issued call letters. Biometric verification using Aadhaar Card will be carried out at the time of examination/skill test. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test or skill test. Selected candidates will be required to serve anywhere in India.

The written test is based on minimum educational qualification for the post applied for. The question cum answer paper will be in English and Hindi. The number of candidates called for written examination may be restricted based on marks obtained in the minimum essential qualification, depending on applications received.

Stage 2 – Skill / Physical Test (wherever applicable)

The requisite number of candidates will be shortlisted based on written test merit and category for skill/physical test wherever applicable. Venue for both written test and skill test is DSSC, Wellington.

Stage 3 – Document Verification

Pre-scrutiny of applications in terms of age limit, minimum qualifications, experience, documents, and certificates will be carried out before calling candidates for the written/skill test. Biometric verification with Aadhaar Card will be carried out at the time of examination/skill test.

How to Apply DSSC Form 2026?

  • Submitting a handwritten application form – only typed (block letters) application forms downloaded from www.dssc.gov.in and taken as colour printout are accepted.
  • Not opening/filling the application form in Adobe Reader – the form must be opened in Adobe Reader only as per instructions.
  • Forgetting to upload/affix a recent colour photograph (white background, taken within last three months) on the application – applications without photograph will not be accepted.
  • Not uploading candidate signature on the application form – applications without signature will not be accepted.
  • Submitting a single application for multiple posts – separate applications with separate Demand Drafts are mandatory for each post.
  • Not mentioning the post name clearly on the envelope – the envelope must state “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF ___________”.
  • Missing the 21-day deadline by sending through ordinary post late – DSSC will not be responsible for postal delays.
  • OBC candidates using a certificate issued before 01-04-2025 – OBC Non-Creamy Layer Certificate must be issued on or after 01-04-2025. Same rule applies for EWS certificates.
  • Not attaching self-attested photocopies of all required documents (Aadhaar, mark sheets, certificates, driving license, experience certificates, reservation certificates) – incomplete applications will be rejected.
  • Government employees not attaching NOC – persons working in Central/State Government/PSU/Autonomous Bodies as permanent employees must submit an NOC.
